Rani Olson is a conceptual installation artist based in Tucson, Arizona. Working with rock and mineral dust, plaster, natural fibers, light, sound, and video, she creates sculptural environments that explore material transformation, memory, and personal and collective liberation. Sustained research, repetitive labor, and care shape her practice, which is evolving toward softer, lighter, more fluid forms.

In 2026, Olson was selected for the ON DURATION residency at AADK Spain in Blanca. Her recent installation Submerged grew from this experience and her underwater research with Mediterranean seagrass. A former University of Arizona Professor of Practice and founder of ARC, the Artist Residency Cooperative, she brings a longstanding commitment to education and community into her work.
