Times Square “Midnight Moment”

Texas-based artist, and TAAS member, Colette Copeland [@ColetteMedia] takes over the screens of Times Square nightly this month for January’s #MidnightMoment, “Galaxias tou Gala (Milk Galaxy)” co-presented by Times Square Arts and @TheAlternativeArtSchool (TAAS).

On view through January 31 from 11:57pm to 12:00am, Copeland’s “Galaxias tou Gala (Milk Galaxy)’ reflects on the poetics of femininity and the passing of time with age. Across the Times Square billboards, the artist herself gently appears from a pastel-hued milk bath surrounded by floral petals. Inspired by Rupi Kaur’s ‘Milk and Honey’, the video work serves as an homage to the enduring grace and dignity that continues to bloom across a lifetime.

This presentation is a partnership between TSQ Arts and TAAS, which offered mentorship for TAAS students applying to the Midnight Moment open call.
